Default Rusty Iron Rally 2019

Well it's on again this weekend so get your toys together and come and play. Doing a record attempt for most stationary engines running at one time here in Australia so that should eb a good thing to achieve. Dee and I are just 2 of the engine scrutineers again this year and hopefully they will have around an extra 6 to get through them all.
Hope to see you there and sorry that Scotty can't make it so we will be thinking of you fella.

Hello Cobba
The exhibitors will go there. The RIR has a good reputation and I'm positive fun will be had by all.
Don't think of me Cobba. Plenty of other stuff to think about like who's going to put the first scratch on David. Do you want me to send the cattle prodder down?
Sadly I won't be going as we'll be moving stuff from our Brisbane house. Thank goodness it's sold. Life might get more normal now without having to worry about it.

Cheers Scott

Holidays can be hectic and take quite some time to get over, we practise this as often as we can.
Scotty, Dee has been training me on how to think about 2 things at once,
Epic Fail.

Great two days with plenty to look at from motor bikes, cars, trucks, tractors and a world record for 333 engines running at one time in the same.

Well this had to be by far the biggest RIR ever held in the Clubs 24 year history. The committee organised to have an Australian record attempt at most stationary engines running at one time and for ten minutes. As this turned even if it was only one engine that would have been the official record as no record attempt had been made in the past. As time got closer the company hwo officiates the records asked how engines have registered and when they were told they said that would be a new world record if most of them completed the challenge. South Africa had the record of 205 engines and we just did 333 which now is the new record world wide. This figure will stand for 2 years as that is how it is done and the next book that goes into print to announce this will not be available until October 2020.
As expected a couple of engines failed to complete the 10 minutes with one engine in our compound stopping dead about halfwaywith a bad magneto. Once an engine stops that is it you cannot restart. There were a couple of drones flying aroumd while the attempt was on and the CLub is looking at getting the images onto CD and then for sale. It certainly was and still is an exciting thing to be involved with and a big thanks goes out to our committee members for going to the effort of making it happen.

I second your praise for the RIR, Cobba. It certainly was a great event, and an opportunity to make contact with many people with interests in common. I failed to catch up with you and Dee as I was hoping to. It just didn't happen, despite camping just a few sites away.
Now for the Clarendon Classic!

I wasn't aware you were there either. Which compound were you in, we were in compound "B".
Dee and I have to book a site at the caravan park in Vineyard and will be there for the Saturday only. I will have to book a site tomorrow so that we can attend.
We will take a mower or two for our display. Hopefully we can catch up there.

Didn't note which compound I was in, but I was with other members of SAMCI, on the arena side. Will look out for you at the CC.
