Default C859 - replace or retrofit?

First off I would like to thank the people that helped me source some of the part numbers for the CCK 4.0 circuit board.
After talking with neumerous people who have experience with these boards I was talked out of building an exact clone, They were faulty designs from the get go and with age and maybe slight abuse they fail dramatically.
So now I ask. Should I send the $150US on the Dino replacment or do the relay retrofit? I am not exactly in the best financial position right now (although who really is) so the 150 would really hurt the ole pocketbook. If I went with the retrofit any ideas how costly the parts for that were?
Any and all advice appreciated.
Thanks once again
Tom S.
