Default 1924 Harley restoration, help needed

Hi All out there and Happy new Year to you. I am helping a fellow restorer rebuild a 1924 Harley Motor Cycle. My part of the project is to rebuild the Tool Box. We do have an old one to copy but it is missing the "LID" we have no idea how it fits or is held in place when driving. Your help would be greatly appreciated if you could supply pics, or an illustration etc,
cheers John.

Hi John,
here is another type, are we getting close yet ? There seems to be many types fitted or even retro-fitted over the years.
This seems to be a 1/4 turn lever activated by a two pronged key.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hello,

the website motorarchive.com has a couple of 24 J and F models on there. The direct links are;

http://www.motorarchive.com/includes...ail.php?id=122

and

http://www.motorarchive.com/includes...ail.php?id=560

if you click on the image, you'll get an enlared photo that will show you the toolbox. Is the toolbox on your bike the one on top of the tank or below the seat? I think the electric models have the toolbox on top, battery unnderneath. The non-electric just have the toolbox underneath. I'm not sure, I'm still learning about early Harleys. I have 1922-25 parts book I can scan and post the toolbox info, if it helps. Regards Craig

John, here are the scans out of the 22-25 Harley twin parts book. I applogise for the clarity, it's the best I could get.
