I am used to the Continental D & F series engines which use the same bearing set. They both use the front main to control thrust. The shim pack is used to set the crankshaft end play to the correct amount. I will not look up any bearing sets, but FYI for you I know insert bearings have also been reoured.

Thanks, I have looked into having the old set repoured, but one main bearing spun and the block had to be line bored, and one rod bearing shell is beyond repair as well as the main bearing shell that spun.

I do have a lead on a set and hoping to know in a few more days.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions.

Douglas County Fire District #2 in Roseburg Oregon has a 1940 Holabird pumper parade unit. It was originally owned by Veterans Administration Medical Center, Roseburg. I can put you in touch with their mechanic if you want.

Yes please. The more information I can get from someone who has worked on one the better off I will be. Thank you. Should I private message you my contact information?

Parts did not pan out. No rod bearings available, but did have another engine donated so I can get the rod bearings from it.

I'm sure the bearing shells will need to be redone. Anyone know where would be a good place to send bearing shells to have new babbitt or bearing material put on?

Thanks again

You stated you may have had a spare U501 Continental engine donated for a fire truck. I would be interested in buying this engine or any parts if you are interested. My email is Ctobac1@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your time.
