Default Unknown Engine Parts

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right place because I have absolutely no idea what these parts are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi HV,
The plain round cyl. looks to be a buzz coil not sure on the other.
Nathan.

Yes, they are very odd. The one that looks like a buzz coil is from Jefferson Electric, but I haven't been able to find anything like it. The second one is even more of a mystery.

Is there a coil or winding under the cover of the second part? If so I would guess it to be an early solenoid. When a current is run through the coil, it would pull on the rod to operate some other function.

Dont think it's a buzz coil. I think that's a resistor wire goes under the round cap. Could be off pre 20's car, but don't know what. Buick used a similar one but not same.
