I jus recalled more information from the Rock Island Arsenal course I took and that is lubricants with Teflon do not work under heavy load applications (don't remember the loads needed) resulting in the Teflon (for lack of a better term) tending to squirt out and not stay in place.

I have always seen it for sale but have only met one person who used it and he was satisfied.

Just remembered another product called Pro Blend Racing. Have a neighbor who was into professional drag racing for many years and he gave me some of the Pro Blend stuff. I used it but honestly I couldn't say the results were detectable in my 94 Honda except I still have it at 291,000+ but I have been running Mobil 1 10W30 in it since 1500 miles. I looked it up and it is still out there.

Just remembered about 18 months back I started having a power steering pump start to make noise at maximum turn position which it never did before. It was also low on fluid so I went out and got a quart of power steering fluid and put some Sandstrom 532 powder in it and put it in the first vehicle and noise went away immediately so I added it to other two vehicles reservoirs and all three working fine.

The teflon stuff does have one very good application I know of from personal experience. Old rusty bolt removal! Penetrating oil. Way back I needed to work on some suspension bolts on an old Crown toyota. I had a can of "TRIFLON" (now called Tri-flow). The night before I bent down and gave each rusty nut a shot of the stuff. Next day I expected to bust my knuckles, get out the torch, buy a nut cracker.... But WTF the wrench just turned!!!!! Every treated nut broke free easily.

That was back in the late 70's....I just bought another bottle.

Tahumaturge
sent you a PM email with questions.

Talked to my buddy at Rock Island and he said the teflon has a tendency to comglomerate and cause a mess and teflon nor moly will get through a good filter.

I am currently running a test series with moly in a Onan AJ. Very interesting results so far. I run 20 minutes every morning and record oil temp and voltage every five minutes up to 20 and shut it down and wait till next day and do it all over again.

From just the startng phase I am seeing a reduction in oil temp of 22°F from 30HD. First test with no moly and follow on tests all with moly.

I hope to do this for about ten hours running 20 minutes at a time.

I am running a 1608 watt load and about the 11th run I plan on increasing the watt load by 500 watts and see what happens to temp etc.

Just FYI- I just got a trailer that has an Onan Microquiet 4000 watt gasoline generator. It runs 3600 rpm and the manual calls for oil changes every 150 hours. It holds 1.5 quarts.

there are 3600 rpm generators made with oil systems including pumps and filters. these are not typical "lawn mower use" splash oiling types.

they get weekly rather than daily oil changes.

I use Rotella T straight 30, little hard to find but I find it in the farm stores. Also on the little magnets - Ace Hardware sells a little magnet in packs of 10 as I remember. I merely drill a shallow hole in the bottom of the drain plug the same size plus .002 and epoxy the magnet in place. Don't feel the epoxy is that important, as strong as the magnet is it's not going anyplace. These little magnets are really strong little devils.

Yes Rotella 30 is kind of interesting to find and I have it for my backhoe.

In my moly testing now I increase the load from 1608 watts to 2021 this morning and will go up a hundred watts at a time. My cycles are 58/59 now. I will stop when they drop to 57 or maybe 57/58 and will just run that a while and watch if the voltage increases as it is run in with the moly.

You should be warned that standard Rotella T has cut WAY back on the additives as well, as they damage new diesel's emissions control systems too. Straight grade diesel oils are made mostly for old Detroit 2 cycles and might be OK but I'd only get it if it had 'Approved for Detroit 52-71-92 etc series (the 2 strokes).
