Default Sunshine engine ID tag

I have wondered if H.V. McKay made his engine tags to look like the badge that our soldiers wore in the 14/18 conflicts. Australians at that time were very loyal to their homeland & patriotic. The government did encourage a buy Australian campaign. After the war many would have purchased an engine for the farm. I don't know what year Sunshine started using the "Sunrise" design. Can anyone shed any light on this subject?

Hello all
I've always thought the Sunshine tag looks like the Japanese rising sun flag and how some of the engines would have been thrown in the scrap pile during WWII because of that.

Cheers Scott

I was half cut with some mates one night and i started my 7hp under lights and had one of those " oh yeah" moments.
The smoke from the fish tail exhaust looked exactly the same as the badge and the name plate.

John
Sounds logical , but I know the sunshine is named after where it was built.
So I guess sunrays would be the relevant image

I stand corrected
The land in question was acquired for housing use for h.v.mckay's employees in 1904 and the named the sunshine estate , my read on this is the town name first then the engine name much later

Sorry , didnt mean to correct you sunshineman. But i know for a fact that McKay was naming impliments " Sunshine " around the late 1880's and i think he even called the first harvester he built at his home farm a Sunshine harvester.
