Craig, That truck is "retired" In the "Hall of Fame" I've seen loads a lot Heavier in there besides that load. It definitely earned its spot (keep) I ask Dave once, "It must be hard to stop with a load like that" his comment was "It don't take off very fast either! "

That truck has probably hauled more stuff than a lot of commercial trucks! Thing that I never could figure, how did he dodge all those DOT traps out there?!!

I wonder if Dave checked, there likely is an ordinance against moving sacred parts like those with a lowly john deere.

The journey to build the 45 Titan Air Start Tractor began in September 2011. We traveled to Crosby, North Dakota where we dealt for an early 45 Titan Tractor frame, differential, front wheels, and several other Titan parts. Most of which is shown in the photos below.

On the same trip in 2011, we also dealt on a 45 Titan Tractor rear wheel. Here's a few photos of loading the wheel into our "new" truck.

Once the 45 Titan frame was delivered to Illinois, it was completely disassembled. Old bolts where removed and replaced with ones from our inventory. Some of which were salvaged from wreck sites where the big Titan tractors were wrecked during World War 2. The shafts and bearings where also polished, greased and then re-assembled.

In this photo of the frame, the casting that holds the front wheels has been bolted on. The 45 Titan Air Start Tractor needs a longer frame to hold the water box containing the gas/air starting engine. Since we were using an old style 45 Titan frame, we needed to weld a piece of channel iron onto the frame.

An original piece of channel iron from a 45 Titan tractor was procured from Biewer Tractor Salvage in Minnesota. We cut pieces out of this frame and welded it to our old 45 Titan Frame. This was the same technique that was used in the International Harvester factory when these Titans were being made. The original existing Titan Air Start Tractors have the same welding marks.

We put the rear axle on blocks and attached the front wheels. Here's a few photos.

The re-built differential is attached.

In this photo you can also see that the platform is also put back together. We had to make the back angle iron, but the rest of the frame we got with the cab and water tank.

Using that "Green Tractor", we attached the cab to the frame.

For the rear wheels we had one original wheel and one original extension rim. Leroy Machine in Pennsylvania designed a cad program to build the other real wheel and extension rim. The holes were punched while the iron was flat and then rolled to make the rim. This is an image of the rims in Pennsylvania shortly after they were made.
