Default Model Steam Traction Engine

I picked up this little traction engine a while back on eBay. It’s a neat little thing with Copenhagen snuff cans for rear wheels. The steering wheel is some kind of token from Portland, OR. The ends of the boiler are the same tokens. The boiler is 13/16” in diameter and has superheater tubes on the bottom. It has a double reduction belt drive to one rear wheel with a functional belt tightening clutch. Functional steering too.
I had to re-string the steering and make new belts for the drive. Runs and drives great!
Enjoy the photos and video!

Default Re: Model Steam Traction Engine

I was able to figure out that these were trade tokens given out at the Hesse Cafe, 28 Third Street, Portland, Oregon from 1921 to 1928.
