Looks like a really nice mower. That shield on the front is usually missing and the decks tend to crack easily.

I have one just like it. A little rougher maybe. I need a float for the carb. as mine has had water in it which crushed the float in freezing weather. Yes, the engine uses a single lobe cam.

Judging by the carby(tillotson mt-series) it probably is an RSH of some type. The one i have is a lauson rsh-775 wt and it came off a goodall mower.Yes it is a 4 stoke engine so if you run it,make sure she has oil in the sump. The plug is on the opposite side of your pictures. If i remember right it's a 2 and 1/2 hp engine. What do the two tags say? One should be for the mower itself and the other for the engine. My rsh was made in '56 so yours could be in that same time frame give or take a couple of years.

Craig DeShong could give ya a heck of a lot more info if he so desires to jump in here.

I think Scott has nailed it. Looks like a RSH-775. This is the RSH version of the Lauson engine that Lauson made under contract for Goodall so you will only see this Lauson engine on a Goodall mower. Lauson made a RSV that looks a lot like this engine but it was the Lauson version, free from the Goodall contract, and Lauson sold the RSV to many different mower manufactures. There is what I feel is an excellent thread on this engine that K D Reed started that you can find here http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22678 .

K D Reed, just about any Tillotson MT carb. should have a float that will work. They seem to be pretty much interchangeable.
