Default side shaft engine

What is a good side shaft engine to buy ? Iam going to start looking for a side shaft to buy and would like any information i can get like whats good , bad and what to look for . Thanks to all who reply .

Hi Dave, Good to see you at Coolsprings. Around my area most people start with Domestic sideshafts, we call them a poor man's sideshaft around here as they are ususlly the most affordable. But they are also very good runners and easy to work on. From there you can go all the way up to the camstopper models you just saw at Coolsprings, but there is a lot in between. Just let your pocketbook be your guide. See ya Steve Royster
