Unhappy 300 HP Fairbanks Morse Diesel Needs a Home!

I recently found a 4 cylinder 300 hp fairbanks morse hot head diesel in a salvage yard just south of soo sault marie, michigan. The owner is waiting for someone to buy it so they dont have to scrap it. It looks complete to me. Probably stuck. I believe they have equipment to load it. It is huge. He said they would need about 30 cents a pound for it. If anyone or a club would have an interest in it, they should call reid metals 606-632-0018. I hope it doesnt get scrapped. Thanks db.

Thumbs up Re: 300 hp fairbanks morse diesel needs a home !

I would take it. >30 cents a pound is a little high. We are only getting 15 cents for processed metal here. How much will it take to buy it? shoot a price. Joe

Yeah, it'd be sweet if he would deal on it to keep them from having to process it and keep from destroying it! $.30 IS a lil steep...
I have a 40hp 1 cyl and 110 and 120hp 2 cyl, that 6 cyl would look GOOD sittin here too.

David,

You made a typo, the area code here in the UP is 906.

Reid Metals 906-632-0018, Dafter, MI...checks out on Google.

I hope someone can save this engine. I'd love to take it on, but it's a little out of my budget.

Rick

I think it would be in the 40,000lb. range. If I can find my books I can look it up. The biggest thing is all the parts it would produce. I put an ad on here a couple weeks ago for some simple parts and did not get one reply that helped. And this is the place to go.

A 300 hp 4 cylinder would make it a 32E14, the last model in the series. That is definitely not a hot head; its a full diesel with direct injection. It will have 9" crank journals, both rods and mains.

If it has a woodward governor on it, I'd give some good money for a part out of it.
