Smile 40 H.P. Bovaird & Seyfang

I friend just bout his first large engine, a 40 H.P. Bovaird & Seyfang. He is looking for any information he can get. I told him there is not a larger group of experts in the world than there is on this website, so let have it. Share some helpful hints, amusing stories or technical expertise. His family has a connection to the original company which built these engines so any historical info would be appreciated as well.
Thanks

I wish there was more information on Bovaird & Seyfang and other large engine makers. I don't have any direct experience with a Bovaird, but I have several large 2 cycle engines that are similar and that run. Does this engine have a magneto ignition on it? If so, what brand and type is it? Is it in running order?

Hi Jeff-
A good place to start is a page on George Holley which talks about the Holley - Bovaird connection as well as ties to Henry Ford. Has a nice 1895 factory picture and lots of good information. enjoy....

You might go over to Harry's OFES list and ask the oilfield guys directly. They are a good source of information on these big old hunks.
thank you,

Thumbs up Re: 40 H.P. Bovaird & Seyfang

Thanks for the info. I have passed it all on to my friend with the engine and have invited him to take part in the discussion. Hopefully he will post here soon. I appreciate the help.
Jeff
