Default Help! Pinion Gear

I'm trying to figure out what the pinion gear on my 1911 36hp Case Steam Traction engine is made from. Is it cast iron, grey iron, ductile, or cast steel? Please help. Need to have new one cast. Contact me here or spyrodevil@aol.com. Thank you!

Hi- Which pinion do you need? The crank shaft one should be reversible. although you likely dont want to do that. have seen it done on 75s though. it will be a cast iron gear(non weldable-{non buzzboxable})
do you have any pictures of your engine?

Colin,

I'm confused by your remark of non-weldable??? Why?

Lawrence
