Default 4/71 genset

What would you guys pay for an excellent running DD 4/71 with a dead gen end? I'm just looking for a ball park to start asking.
My father in law will be removing it from the boat. I dont know the hours since the last overhaul, or whats wrong with the genny. I look at the brushes and comm after we get it out.

BTW It also has a PTO on the front end.

Whatever you are willing to sell it for and whatever the buyer is willing to pay, that's what it will sell for. In this economy and the way the enviro wacko's are heading we won't be able to run the old DD's long anyhow.

well, depends on what you want it for and how badly do you need it? if its just for fun, or nothing serious, say 500 and if they laugh at you bargain it up from there.. i always say aim low and let the talking begin, whats important is getting a number out there... then both sides will want to talk... i guess youll need to de-marine it, unless its going in another boat... a lot depends on how badly the gen is messed up...
