If yours is like it, why not do the same?
All I can see is the name Donaldson in the picture. Not sure if it is an OEM filter or not. I will try to check Donaldson for pictures.
Thanks, Iver.

The manifold and heat exchanger are cast iron.

Now that I found out the direction of coolant flow, I have decided to keep the marine manifold and run coolant through it and then through the radiator and back to the engine.
I got a small rad with a fan to try so I guess it will be trial and error for now.
Thanks, Iver.

It's a diesel so EGT will be lower, the manifold will only get as hot as the EGT, but could possibly set up stresses between the hotter inner portion and cooler outer portion... I think if you're going to retain the wet manifold it should be water cooled! This will also add to the heat required to be dissipated by your radiator/fan set up. I'm sure you'll get it working though

Thanks AngrySailor,
I appreciate your optimism.
Yes, the manifold will now be water cooled. Just hoping the radiator can reduce water temperature enough.
I now have the generator mounted on a dolly and am putting together hoses for the radiator. I'll post pictures when I get ready to test.
Thanks, Iver.

Okay, the radiator and hoses are all hooked up. Installed a small fuel tank and a Donaldson air filter. The coolant now circulates completely through the water cooled exhaust, heat exchanger and radiator.
I started and ran the generator for awhile until I saw the temperature rise on the gauge. I let it continue to rise to 180* or so and then turned the fan on the radiator manually and the temperature dropped and continued to drop until I shut off the fan.
I now need to install a thermal switch to control the radiator fan.
Everything, so far so good.......
