Give us a good pic of the pump and the fuel lines going to the cylinders, it seems unlikely that 2 are swapped but best to eliminate that as a cause. Cheers Dan

Will do Dan, when I get home today I will take some good pics, From the pic on#3 post that nothingbutdarts showed me that tels me the rotation direction of the pump clockwise just like the flywheel so I can make sure the lines are attached correctly in order.
Thanks Dan Thanks nothingbutdarts, I appreciate the pics of the pump lines order. I will check mine tonight when I get home and grab a pic or 2,. Thank you. Steve |

Be very hard to cross the injector lines. You need manual 974-0750. My scanner is down so I can't send it. But all the timing information is in it. Firing order is 1-2-4-3.

For the sake of simplicity I took a look at one of my units, this is what I got. Facing the pump , at 2 o'clock cyl 1 , at 5 o'clock cyl 3 , at 8 o'clock cyl 4 and at 11 o'clock cyl 2. That makes the rotation anti clockwise according to the firing order. This is off a running machine so I believe it to be correct. Cheers Dan

Cant seem to figure out how to upload a pic, my bad, any directions on how ?
Dan, looking at mime it shows the rotation according to how these lines are installed counter clockwise, like yours, so I dont see this as the issue. |

Try this:
https://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40589 This is very interesting, your fuel lines are correct, you swapped injectors from a good cyl. into a bad cylinder and then it did not help the bad cyl. You posted the compression of the bad cylinder and it was good per your test. Now if a diesel had compression and atomized fuel it will fire. Two things I would do is first pull rear valve cover and check valve settings on both cyls. Then if that was good I would pull all 4 injectors and try to hook all 4 back up to the fuel lines out of the engine and crank the engine carefully watching the spray pattern and amount. Or as mentioned, have all the injectors and pump retested.. |

Well I found how, thanks to Craig for his posting. here are 2 pics hope you can see where they go. pretty simple I think? Please advise.
so should I check the inj timing, I would have to use option 2 for checking it, blowing air in to the pump and slowly turn flywheel until air stops and take it from there to see how far out of time it is or not? and then shim it according to the diagram they have in the book. anyone have a different option? please advise, much appreciated guy's Steve |

Hinothingbutdarts, sorry for delayed response
I will check valve clearance again to be sure for sure, asap and if ok pull all injectors and crank it over. watch pattern for a bit, if not noticeable to my eyes I even want to put a hose on the ends of each injectors and shoot fuel pumped out into separate vials to measure amount and see if all are equal in amounts or if 2 and 4 are more??? any other thoughts anyone? This seems to be a stump doesnt it??? |
