Can anyone tell me what this is?
It looks as though it is an extension of the oil pressure sending unit?
Thanks, Iver.

Guessing here, the two senders solidly attached to the block are for shut down for low oil press. and the other for maybe a engine mounted oil press. gauge the the extra hose with senders on that might be for remote mounted oil press. gauges.

Thanks for the pictures!

Hypothetical scenario: 1000 marines vs a stick.

Who wins?

Nothingbutdarts.....

Thanks to MBB again I found 4 manuals for this unit. Amazing.

One of the manuals suggested only one oil pressure gauge could be connected to the original sending unit.
So maybe the extra sending unit there would be for as you say another remote gauge.

Good thought, thanks.

I have converted 2 Marine Generators to Land Based types. The thing you need to do is determine the Engine Manufacturer (Cummins?). Once you know that you can start to look and see if it was used on Land Based models.

If it was, from there you can easily see how the setup is different from your current setup. The 2 biggest things in my book are 1. How does the Coolant flow? Need to determine that so you can know how to route the hoses for the Radiator. 2. is the Exhaust Manifold. The Marine setups I have worked with exhaust directly into a water muffler or something like that. I found it would not be easy to connect convectional exhaust piping to the marine exhaust manifold so I choose to buy a land based model exhaust manifold.

You can buy a Radiator out of the Junkyard and use it. Every Generator Radiator I found for sale was $100. and above, so I opted for the $50.00 deal from the junkyard. They work just fine as long as you get it close to the size of an original style.

Not easy to see exactly where the Thermostat is, but I have an idea. Maybe there is a Land Based Model example of that too, which I would convert as well.

A bit of rambling, but hope this helps some.

That is an Onan engine. Cummins had nothing to do with the thing. Some parts can be very hard to find if at all. Be very careful working on it.Some parts can be taken from the land version. That hose is for an added item. It was made for a few short years. See my post on the L engine.

Thanks Viking66

I now have several manuals for this unit and it shows the water flow and location of the t-stat. With a little work I might be able to use the marine exhaust manifold as a dry exhaust.

Thanks Billy,
I was wondering about the engine as well. I entered the serial # on the Cummins web site and it showed information/parts etc. for that number. So I thought it was made by them.
