Default Onan Direct Coupled Generator Head Conversion

Is there any type of kit, or has someone home engineered a way to make an Onan Generator head work with a pulley?

I have an old 5 CCK that I tried to give away, but the guy never showed so I took it apart for curiosity sake.

Thought maybe if possible I could use the Generator Head again sometime. If not it is off to the Scrap Yard...Sacrilege I know, but it is taking up room in my Garage and I did try to do the right thing once and that didn't work!

The scrap guy did say I would get way more if the head was separated anyways.

Thanks

I think it is like most Onan sets and the genend has no "front" bearing to support it. It is dependent on the engine for support of the front end of the generator.

Make more selling genhead to people here that need one rather than pennys per pound at the scrap yard.

Sacrilegious to scrap a good genhead.

It does need the engine to support the front. I thought maybe someone had a cool rigged way to do it.

I would be willing to sell the Genhead to someone here if they want it.

Itís 5KW CCK. Round type 1R so only 120.

I can post pics tomorrow.

Post the pics ,might take a while for some one to need it . But price it right and it will be a win-win for both you and buyier. (I don't need for it).

By generator "head" I assume you are referring to the entire generator minus the engine and not some component part. I'm sure someone here on this site will want it. But your approach has me baffled. Why not keep the entire unit together, get it running and wait for a power outage? I don't recall looking to see where you are, but it's not like any part of the nation has a shortage of power outages, and the future promises more rather than less. When the power goes out, drag it out to the road and put a big FOR SALE sign on it, with RUNS and CHEAP added for good measure. It'll be gone to an appreciative new owner before you know it, and for a good price.

can it be put back together?, all the parts still ok? I suppose if you wanted or needed the engine for another project you could be forgiven .

I already have a 15JC Natural Gas with a Transfer Switch for any power outages.

This is one that I got for $30.00 of off Craigslist and looking it over I saw that finding all of the parts and getting it running again was just not worth it to me.

I currently have 5 Onan Generators and another I gave to my neighbor. This on is just taking up space.

No one from here is going to want to pay for shipping with the amount this thing weighs, I know I wouldn't.

Might post a pic of the whole gen. Engines are pretty bullet proof. Likely won't take much to get it running.

I use term genhead to mean the 1/2 of the genset that's not the engine. So genhead = everything associated with the electrical end : rotor , stator, all of brush assembly, casting that holds all of it .......

I have one of those old round head 120 volt only 5CCK's. A great generator, but it takes a "big fookin' battery" to start and WOW is it heavy, about 400 Lbs. And you are right, I wouldn't want to pay shipping. I'm surprised you got it for $30. Locally it's difficult to beat them down to $100 for a cold lump of metal sitting on the ground.
