Flatten the flanges with a belt sander.

Install new gasket. DO NOT over tighten a soft gasket- the flange will warp.

For the flex, use a walker or nelson band clamp such as:

These clamps tighten evenly 360 degrees and seal better than any saddle clamp.

my 6.5 NH used exhaust tubing in both OD and ID sizes for slip on fit-up
in the end my exhaust relied on 3 to 4 inch overlap to the flex, and no clamps
[I welded a piece of OD measured tubing inside the ID measured flange stump]
[used outside]
by using this free advise, you, your heirs, etc
absolve, save, and hold harmless the advisor.

Nice! I think mine is a bit too tight to slide it up that far. Had to split it to get it in as far as I did.

Thanks Jim for that Walker clamp idea. I am ordering a couple of those!
