Generally, I would not bother to follow up here since you are backfeeding, but you asked nicely, and passed the "attitude test".

When your panel is fed with the utility supplied 240V and neutral the two bus bars are out of phase with each other. The neutral carries only the difference in current between them.

As you have it now, the bus bars are in phase (fed from the same 120V source) and the neutral carries the entire load current, which may be more than it is sized for.

Powering only one bus bar in your panel should negate that possibility, IF all 240V loads were shut off.
