Hello
A good friend has this Hupmobile Coupe. It is very nicely restored but stood in a museum for many years. Over the coming weeks I will see if I can start the engine. I haven't inspected it yet and am sure I will have some questions! The serial # on the engine is S44272. Here are some pictures, any information is welcome. Regards Marcel |

Interesting...
"Stood in.museum for many years..." (after restoration, I assume)... But pic looks like private garage/shop building... If so, how did car get from museum to garage/shop?? transported?? driven?? If driven, how long ago?? How long, in other words, has engine been dormant?? The internet, and these forums, are full of directions/suggestions re' starting/running dormant engines, many time-sensitive: generally, the longer the engine sat, the more detailed/careful you need to be to avoid possibly damaging gummed-up/corroded internals and/or externals, like dist, fan bearings, water pump,,, I assume your friend has or will join the Hupp Club, whose members should know of any 1931 idiosyncrasies... My apologies, of course, if your being unclear is due to being unfamiliar with some of the finer nuances of English, often called a difficult language...we all too often have trouble with it ourselves... |

I am almost sure it was restored in the USA, and at the end of the nineties came to Holland and was in a museum there until a few weeks ago. So I thinks it did not run the last 20 years. It is in my garage at the moment, we got it here in a closed truck. Before even attempting to start I will carefully check the engine.
