Question help ID year of a holley

I am rebuilding a holley and have ran into a issue with the rebuild, I have the right kit but need to know the decade it was built. the parts list in the kit says to use one thing for mid 70s and earlier and not to use on later models.

list#1850-4

date code 1327

thanks in advance.

Looks like it could be 77 or 87 or 97 ??
Can you narrow it down ?
http://www.nastyz28.com/~copo/date_codes.htm
scroll down to 4 digit date codes

Here's a good list that may be helpful at some point

thats what i ran into. its on a 1977 dodge pickup, but its not original. dodge didnt offer a 4 barrel on this application. i would have a hard time believing someone would do that to a new truck, but there are folks out there that would.

acc pump discharge check ball & weight is what they are calling it on the parts break down. i dont think mine has it, think all mine had was the discharge needle, which would be correct if it is a later model.

Both the ball and weight or the needle perform the same function just a different design. If both types have the same clearance and seat well it won't matter which you use. I'd probably go with the needle if you have it unworn.

mine works with the needle, instructions were vague at best. upon a closer look there is only enough room for the needle. carb must be over jetted, idle mixture screws have no affect, and it is leaking some where internally after shut down you can watch fuel vaporize and hover around the choke butterfly.

May not be over jetted. Probably the internal leak is upsetting
AFR. Leak volume is probably constant, so would cause richest mixture at idle.
Going to have to pull it apart to find & fix leak.

i am pretty much done with it, this is by no means my first and i paid very close attention to what i was doing. to be honest i am suprised it ran as well as it does. this is by far the worst holley or any other brand i have been into, very bad shape. this new gas has no mercy!

so after much reading and a few videos, it may not be nothing more than a leaking power valve. it seems the older holley carbs cant stand a back fire, it wipes out the power valve thus causing my symptoms. holley fixed this issue in the 90s. i did get one lean backfire when i first started it. now the $64 question, whats the odds of taking the front bowl & metering block off without damaging gaskets. they want $16 just for the metering block gasket!!

The gasket will be wet from fuel. I'd say 99% you'll be ok.
Or go online to Jegs, Summit etc., and get the non stick ones.

may not even try to seperate the bowl from the metering block, no need to be in there and if i do screw up a gasket it wont be but one instead of two. hoping i dont mess up any, it has had less than 30 minutes run time since build.....

i finally got a chance to go back into the holley today, wrong gasket on the power valve. no torn up gaskets and with the right power valve gasket it runs like new and the idle screws do affect idle now. its been a hair puller.......

Holleys always were a bit temperamental for me.

I would hate to run one nowdays with the crappy fuel we have. I remember what a PITA those metering blocks were to clean way back then, with alky fuel all bets are off.

Now that you fixed leak, does it still seem over jetted?

My limited experience is carb set up for pure gasoline will run a bit lean on 10% ethanol blend.

does appear to be on the lean side when cold, however i have not yet adjusted the idle with a vacuum gauge yet. vacuum gauge is the best method i have found to get it spot on, adjust until you get max vacuum.
