Photo Vaile & Kimes Water Motor

Not sure where to ask this question but here goes; I was given this pump the other day, Its marked Vaile & Kimes, Dayton, Ohio and embossed on it is V & K Water Motor. As you can see in the pictures it works totally with water pressure, the one pictue is of the bottom of it which is either a inlet or a outlet or one of each. Does anyone know what it was used for? I have looked on the internet but find only ones that are powered with a engine or electric motor. It is marked No. 2
Thanks for your time and information.

Google steam lizards...it'll bring up a site on pumps and they have a whole section on these "water motors".

i never saw anything like it . don't know if this helps or not but i just bought a V&K piston pump similar to the myers piston well pumps. it has V&K electric service pump, the vaile-kimes co. dayton ohio, i saw one similar on youtube running. mine had a cast iron base with legs on it.
