That is an insurance canceling cord. Or as some call it. You get to pay for everything damaged and maybe a free night in jail cord.

Meh, looks fine to me. Maybe that's just the perpetual rabble-rouser in me

The ONLY difference with it is that it requires a brain to operate. Oh, wait- I've just uncovered the flaw haven't I!

Regardless, the stupid thing that I see here is Selling it on the Internet!!!

I wouldn't even sell it at a garage sale lol.

So take a plug rate 30 amps and grind off the "L" pin so it can use either a 30 or 50 amp plug.

Where is the ground pin?

I thought it was the ground, that's why I posted it.
Lot of these cords are for drier plug, 220 and ground ( no neutral)

Fun if house plug had no ground wire.,. ....... Floating neutral

Floating neutral.......Lets the magic smoke out of your 120 V loads. TV, stereo, electronics, motors......$$$$

Yeah, the older 30 amp dryer sockets, and 50 amp range sockets, officially had no neutral, though the code allowed the use of the ground as a neutral for incidental loads like lights, clocks, timers, and the motor in the case of a dryer, so there should always be a ground of some sort present.

The conductor in question (if present!) would be a #10, and plenty adequate for use with the 30 amp, ahem, generator adapter. Of course, as we all know this does not properly address generator grounding.

Sometimes, as is also code, the raceway itself, ie conduit, is the grounding conductor. While in all likelihood it would be fine, that is starting to get cheesy, and is placing 120 volt equipment at risk, IMHO. Well, and anyone stupid enough to touch a running generator while not wearing shoes lol. Although it was considered good enough for running the aforementioned incidentals.

All of my generators are 120 volt, 2 wire, and most of limited capacity, so my generator adapter for use with these is different than this one.

my generators are set up for 120 so I cant run one of those.

Sure would make it easy to load it up versus having cords running all over the place. But the wife wouldn't be able to figure that setup out so we stay with the multi cords.

I have job requirements that will take me away during any power outage, So we gotta use the KISS method here.

My cost for materials to make one of these is less than the asking price! I won't make one of these even for a friend, and I have been asked to many times. I tell them I like them too much to see them get hurt, sued, or go to jail!
