on the back to points topic, isn't the lobes on the shaft for the points machined into the shaft? or is it a ring as well?

I was thinking to remove your distributor and use it to find one that is as close as possible to yours in size and configuration, then do whatever you have to do to make it fit your engine. Depending on what you come up with this could involve quite a bit of work but to all intents and purposes this is a lifetime fix, especially if you sock away a couple of sets of points and caps/ rotors.

Take a look at pertronix ignition. They make kits to do conversions.
Their website www.pertronix.com
I've installed several of their systems in the last 10 years or so and had no troubles.

Thanks for sharing, Mike. I've also heard quite a lot of good things about them.

Sorry I haven't put my 2 cents in since earlier. I spent a few minutes looking at this. I think one of the "DU/LE/141/142" type ignitor kits would work in your distributor but it would take a little examination to figure out which one. The main issue with installing an ignitor in a non listed application is finding a magnet sleeve to fit. There is typically room to mount the pickup even if it's not super easy. Once you have found a kit with the right magnet sleeve and figured where to mount the pickup then replacing it in the future will be relatively easy(assuming it is still in production the next time you need one). Aside from that I found this

Although not optimal in my eyes this is one dealer in US

http://123ignitionusa.com/peugeot/

We are a Pertronix WD but I have no affiliation with the other company and only post trying to be helpful. Good luck.
