Default Auction goodies

Reccently attended an auction 5hrs drive from where I live managed to pick up 3 project engines for $200. A siezed but mostly complete stewart little wonder, a rather sorry looking 2 cylinder Scripps marine engine and a complete Corbett Williams[lister copy] can't seem to find much info or pics of early Scripps marine engines the tag says it is a model M. There was also a hopper cooled lister B with no mag that only fetched $50

I wonder if the Scripps engine is related to Scripps-Booth car company in Detroit?

It would seem not. The book "American Marine Engines", says the Scripps Motor Co was founded in 1906 by "boat racing and engine connoisseur William E Scripps". In Wikipedia, the car firm "founded by artist and engineer James Scripps Booth", in 1913.

I accept no responsibility for historical errors!

Where abouts would I find the serial number on one of these? I have found green paint on the block in some areas with yellow pinstriping

Quite a good perk Regan has the Scripps been in salt water. If it has, I have been told that keeping it full of anti-freeze will help stop the salt from destroying the cast iron.

Most likely been in salt water but has been sitting outside for at least 20 years just need to make a big enough electroylisis bath to sit it in. It does have some parts of the water jacket missing
