This engine has regular viewing from my customers , the standard question after a detailed look is what's it worth? Honestly I don't know .

The engine Is a 5hp s type petter on a hardwood transport that runs nice .

Hi sunshineman,

Without photos I think it is hard to tell you what its worth. Everyone will have a different opinion.

I have not kept track of what a Petter S would be worth, but I should think it will depend on if original condition compared to restored, mechanical work which has been done or not been done - all these things and more will play a part in the value.

Suggest you post some photos so others can get an idea of what they are valuing.

By the way, I have under restored engines that run beautifully.

Daryl, I can kinda see where your coming from with who cares what its worth.....but I often find myself trying to answer this question for people who are in the market to buy. I guess the true value is its recycled value, if you remove the collector.

Wayne

I know you aren't selling but one problem i see with evaluations is people seem to think their machines are worth what other people advertise theirs for, not what they sell for.

purchased a 5 HP last spring for a $ 160.00 Canadian, you do the math. It runs like a champ. The person I made the buy from is a real smart fellow and was the one who said do you wont to buy it. Now it has another good home with some one who gives a sh?t..

If I'm buying a toy, I start at scrap value and go from there. What does it need to be at the stage I want it to be at and of course running it in it's working clothes or all nicely painted up. Where possible look at what other items the same are selling for. Initial asking price is just that "asking" but "getting" is another thing. Is it a popular item or are there tons of them about. All these things have to come into play on valuation in my book.
