Default Olds questions

Hi all,

I have a 4A Olds Gas Power Co engine at 6hp. i'm missing a few parts, mainly the main bearing caps. I picked up a main bearing cap at the Ballarat swap meet that had 3A and 4A cast into it. I can only assume that it may suit a Seager Olds 4A or something as it wont fit mine, my bolt holes are at 4" centres whereas the cap i bought is at 3 1/2" centres. Does anyone have any caps for my engine or know why the difference?

I doubt that the main bearings would be interchangeable between the 4.5HP and 6HP Olds engines but have never checked, surprised that both 3A and 4A numbers are on the one casting. I have both engines so I'll check mine when I get to them again. Sounds like you have a 3A 4.5HP bearing cap.
