Default Honda EU3000is SN - manufacturing date?

Considering buying a used Honda Eu3000is Generator SN: EZGF 1304110. Would appreciate any help to identify manufacturing year and whether there were any issues (recalls, performance) with this model.

The above link shows Honda recalls and I don't see one for the EU3000is. I have looked but can't find anything about decoding the serial number to find the date. I found this site but it doesn't help.

I recall seeing a post here where a Honda employee provided detailed information on a serial # but that info doesn't appear to be available to the public. Thanks for reply Jerry.

That would have been Robert@Honda. Something happened with him as he dropped off the Internet. That's a shame as he was very helpful on many forums.

Default Re: Honda Generator won't run furnace

Recently we tried to start the furnace using the Honda EU2000i generator and discovered it wouldn’t start-up. The generator has an eco-mode (lower idle) and a non-econo mode (higher rpms) - neither would start the furnace.

The EU2000i has a maximum output of 13.3 amps.
Lennox high efficiency furnace is 120 V 60 hz 1 ph 12 amps.
Furnace error code confirms ‘Improper earth ground’.

I've tried grounding the generator directly to the house's primary water ground w/o success. All other attempts to ground continue to bring up the ground error code.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I could be far off here, but it seems like someone had that problem and the fix was connecting the ground and the neutral together in a three prong plug and then plugging that into one of the sockets on the front of the Honda.

It's a gas furnace, and it needs a neutral ground Bond, in order for the flame detection circuitry to work.

Default Honda EU2000i - proper ground for gas furnace

Update on the NB ground plug - this solved the problem!

Ran the furnace off one of our EU2000i's on eco-mode and the gen didn't even rev up!

Such an easy fix that even the local experienced furnace dealer, Lennox themselves and 2 electricians didn't know.

Thanks again!
