Default Maynard hit n miss engine

My Maynard hit n miss wont run right, it will only stay running if a choke and hold the thing that hit the mag down how can i adjust it to make it run right. Shane

Shane, can you give some more info? How does it run? What color smoke is coming out the exhaust? What kind of magneto does it have? What HP is the engine? Also a picture of what you are holding down would help.

it has a Webster mag the exhaust comes out blue its a 3 hp engine it only runs about three min tops i cant up lode pics but what ever it is it hits the mag but most of the time it wont hit and the engine wont run unless i hod it down until it fires

Shane, it sounds like you have two different problems. I would tackle them one at a time. First the mag trip arm sounds like maybe a spring is missing that pulls down on the arm, but thats just a guess. Second it seems maybe the fuel line is partially clogged, remove the line and check valve and spray them out good with carb cleaner then reassemble and see what happens.

Have you had this engine running properly at one time or is this something new to you?

I've cleaned the check valve and the crab a cupple times and these engine is new to me i just got it for 40$ a great deal its missing a spring on the weights wen i first brought it it ran for 10 min the it quit and it hasent run right seens
