Photo 1920s Hobart Bros. 2 Cyl Air Compressor

Picked this up yesterday, never seen a setup like this where the compressor pump was part of the motor. It works good. It is missing its original control box. I havnt been able to really find any info on these compressors.

Nice! Six pole motor is cool, should be pleasant to listen to. Test the safety valve, and Hydro-test the tank to 1-1/2 times it's pressure setting before running it and letting it build much pressure.

Worthington built direct drive motor-compressor units, some of them quite large. Many of the single phase units used Wagner repulsion start motors. Very cool.

That is really neat! I have never seen a compressor like that before. Judging by the motor the compressor is at most 5 cubic feet per minute in capacity. Probably around 4cfm. Very very nice. You certainly do not see 6 pole 1200rpm motors very often.

The easy to change brushes and the oil level site glass. There are notches on the brackets to adjust the spring tension on the brushes.

Great compressor. I have just the one (Brunner Model 939) that after years of saying I'm going to, I'm restoring it. I'm hooked on these old tanks. I've collected a lot of things I have to control myself!
