Default Seth Thomas Marine clock

I picked up this Ashton Valve marine clock a few years ago. It's made by Seth Thomas but I'm not sure when. I've been told there is a serial number on the clock works by a local guy that repairs old clocks. I should probably take it to him. It's an 8 day clock and still works fine when wound up. I can't use it in the house because the family says it's too loud. So I moved out of the house.......

Ashton valve made a number of these back in the day. Seth Thomas made the clock works and I believe A.V. made the body.

I have a Seth Thomas marine clock similar. It chimes the Navy "watch" bells. Landlubbers are puzzled as to why 8 bells isn't always 8 o'clock. Does yours chime "Navy" time?

I just found a youtube video about clocks and Navy time. Mine does not ring every half hour with a bell sound.

It has just one place to wind. No chime, but a VERY nice clock.

Actually , after taking a closer look, there is a second place to wind but it's hidden behind the hour hand.
