Default What is this?

Sorry, I have no idea where or even if I should post this here but.....

This item came out of an old building just off Market street in down town San Francisco during an complete rebuild of the building (we were doing).

I think it has something to do with a fire alarm system and telegraph to fire house??

The box it is is is cast iron and is about 10/12" by 13". Very heavy.

I Think

it is a control panel for a fire alarm system. It winds up and you "set" the trigger. If one of those relays close, it will set off the mechanism and it starts a coded message (like a telegraph) off. I think that might go to a fire station and it tells them where the fire is and what building????

There is also a telegraph key in there (at the bottom). Maybe that is for testing?? I just don't know. I've owned it for maybe 35 years now when we took it out of an old building (multi story) in SF. I'm thinking of moving and am looking at things like this.

Thanks for looking!!!
