Default Continental AA7

Can anyone tell me where to find information on a Continental model AA7, Spec 2, Serial Number 7893. Looking for rebuild information as well as the year it was made.

Thank you in advance.

Brian

Heres a few places that might help out. I also have a later April 1958 revision, factory copy of the mechanics manual that I could probably scan if needed. The AA series engines came out sometime in 1947 and true production started in 1948 so I would date your engine, being a low serial number, sometime around there. If you have the block casting number you could narrow it down maybe a little better.

Spec No 2 was supplied to Moto Mower for one of their mowers. It had a Scintilla magneto, 2 quart tank, mechanical governor, oil bath air cleaner, 42" throttle control, Tillotson carburetor. With such a low type number, it was most likely made in 1946-47. A Operation and parts manual for the AA7 is readily available on ebay. A Mechanics Manual is usually available also on ebay and will have any rebuild info needed. Scintilla magneto parts may the hardest to locate. Probably used on a reel mower, possibly with magneto powered lighting.

I am just finishing up the rebuild on my AA7, parts are not that easy to find but are out there. I have a pdf of the repair manual I can send you if you want it. Also know of a couple places to find some parts.

I have an AU8, would this manual show how to set timing when installing the cam shaft and torque specs?

There should be a dot on the cam and the crank to help you line them up correctly.

I need a fuel tank for an AA7 that mounts on the shroud side. This is a top carb model. Also, I have a maintenance book with all specs. If you send me questions i can answer them.

Did you locate a magneto and capacitor by chance? If so could you send me information on where to find one. I have a 1947 AA7 series 1 that I am rebuilding and need to find one. Thanks gilbertsonk76@hotmail.com

Parts needed will depend on which magneto is used on your engine You should be able to read the mfgr on the flywheel.
