Default 1964 Winco AEN4D Generator

I recently acquired a 4000 watt Winco generator with a Wisconsin 9.2 hp AENLD engine. It starts using the generator windings. Runs great except for the "conserv" feature which is suppose to idle down the engine when there is no output draw. Does anyone have a manual or other information? I contacted Winco but they have nothing in the archive for this model.

My first guess would be to see what is in the box mounted on the carburetor, perhaps a small solenoid which pushes against the throttle shaft under no load? It could be anything from a cut wire, a grounding issue, a bad solenoid......? Without pictures we too are just drawing straws. That is a nice little unit, pull the oil pan and clean out all of the sludge before running it. The oil pumps are the weakest link of these engines.

Thanks for the response Chris. Will try and get some pics of the part. You are right on the oil sumps. I did clean thoroughly.
On another note I was recently reading your post on the Schramm 35 air compressors of a few years ago by coincidence..
I was hoping to get my hands on one of them also.
Was wondering how you made out. Do you still have them? Did you finish restoring?

Colin, I have one of my Schramm Pneumapower 35s half way rebuilt on my workbench. Progress was sidelined for four years in an attempt to find a matching pair of new old stock oversize pistons for the compressor side of the unit. One of these days I have to re-bore the compressor side and finish rebuilding it. It has been quite an adventure working on that thing. Parts are basically NLA for it, and everything has to be made. Last I talked with Jim Arras, the Schramm man, he only had a few gaskets for the unit and that was all. I'd try and find one in running order. Too many questions to answer with expensive non-working 70 years old units.
