Default Porter Cable Mower

Someone here please appraise this mower. I had a chance to buy one of these complete and in much better shape for 75.00 and i turned it down because i thought it was too much.

Take a look at this asking price. Couldnt believe it. Pretty sure its an old Porter Cable model.

I'm in no way an antique mower expert, but $1500 is astronomical! Drop the last 0 and we're in the ballpark. Let's see.. It will only run on starting fluid, and the mowing deck is missing (good luck finding one)...
If it was a hot collectable, in pristine, brand new condition, with all the dealer tags, accessories, and ran... then we could talk "hidden fortune" money.
He'll probably wind up keeping it for a long time.

Not only is it ugly as sin, it was a cheap piece of garbage when new Im sure. Looks like dumpster material. Save your money and get an old Deere, Cub Cadet, Simplicity/Allis Chalmers rider instead you'll be glad you did. People today seem to make these old hard tired econo riders worth more than they actually are.

I am in no way interested. Wouldnt take it for free if it was my next door neighbors. I always laugh when i see ads like that for these "antiques" . Where do they get their figures? Guess they figure there will be a sucker out there who is as dumb as the seller is.

Some times....DUMPSTER mowers are a collectable. Sometimes its NICE TO GO OFF the beaten path and ignore the green and yellow.

Around here you would be lucky to get 25.00 for that "collectible". Isnt not even complete and if it was..whatcha gonna do with it?. If that seller got an offer of 50.00 (and doubt he ever will) he should take it and not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Well Im not a Deere or rider collector but you can do a LOT better for your hard earned dollar than tin junk like that. They were cheap and not well made when new so I doubt their quality/reliability got better with age. As an example my Uncle had a Mustang 5hp rider when new back when I was a kid. The thing was always breaking something. Today people pay stupid money for those tin cans and they beat you to death if you plan on using them. To each his own but I want good old fashioned quality for my money.
