Default Labor Day Weekend...oh where, oh where, should we go?

Labor Day Weekend is quickly approaching...oh where, oh where, should I go?

Which shows should I (or anyone) attend and why?

Been to these:
  • Pontiac
  • Rock River
  • Hesston
  • Mt Pleasant
  • Rollag
Revist or new adventure????

Thanks
Beth

I will admit I am a bit biased, but I don't see any other choice but Rollag. So many things to see and do. Great people to work with. Sawmills galore and fantastic engines of all kinds to sit and watch.

I vote(d) for Mt Pleasant but only because Mt Pleasant was next up in the rotation this year. It was my first show years ago and still one of my favorites.

I've never been to the Pontiac show though. Maybe I should consider it next year....

Beth, you know where I will be. Up on the Adams grader being pulled by a steamer or two or maybe a Cat 60. We bought just shy of 80 acres this year. There is a ten acre section with long runs that they will be plowing with steamers and the big prairie tractors. This will be at Edgerton WI at Rock River.

Well, I will be visiting Mt Pleasant again this year, but I have to admit Rollag is on my must visit someday list, looks to be an awesome show. We decided to hit MP again this year as our first choice of there, pontiac and rock river figuring IH as their feature tractor this year would be interesting. Pontiac is next years plan, but I might hit Rock River this year as well since its close enough.

At least with Mt Pleasant and the long weekend you can hit another show as well if you want to within a half day of travel in pontiac or rock river.

Even though I've been to Rollag twice, I'm considering going back this year...they're featuring AVERY & I LUV Avery undermount steamers!!!
Going to Mt. Pleasant was always a dream of my Dad's & he never full-filled his dream before he died....hmmmmmmmmmmm

MAYBE I'll just stay home & go to the family reunion, instead...

Myself and some of the Manitoba crowd will be heading down to Mt Pleasant... my second trip (last one was in 1998) and the other's first times. Looking forward to it!

To all of you that are thinking about going or have already made your minds up to come to Mt. Pleasant, I want to encourage and welcome you to the show. Even though Avery is featured at Rollag there will be plenty to see at our show. As I have said before each show is different and unique. I think we have something for everyone. Please stop by and visit with us. We are in the steam area along the road towards the west end. 60hp Case. Lots to see and do and Beth I am sure if you show up Dalene will let you clean the flues

Well, you can hit one, or a bunch. One year, we did a loop starting at Mt Pleasant on Saturday and got some road time in that evening, Rock River and the Illinois State RW musuem on Sunday, and Pontiac on Monday. Family was pretty tired of old iron once we got home.

Was at Rollag one time for school. Yes, it was a cool place to visit, but due to the distance from SW Michigan, it would be the only destination that weekend. Some day.....though.

Thanks for the suggestions (gee John, cleaning the flues on a 60 hp Case would be quite the photo op....) and reasons why those are great shows. Are there any others that folks wish to promote?

Thanks
Beth

I have been going to Mt. Pleasant every year since I was born. You know it has to be good for me to miss out on the Avery feature at Rollag! There really is something for everyone to see. There is no way to see it all in one day.
I will be there running my 1882 Harrison traction engine, stop by.
Beth, I won't even make you clean any flues!

Steve

I don’t know if I’ll stay home for my cousin’s wedding or if I’ll go to Rock River and see my baby and friends… In my eyes Rock River is the only show to consider on Labor Day weekend. It’s by far the superior over Mt P. and Rollag.

If it even looks like rain I 'm going for Mt,Pleasent since rollag parking is kind of a mess if there's any mud at all.

Well........after much consideration, I've decided to go to Mount Pleasant on Labor Day Weekend. Leaving here sometime Thursday & will take my time getting there. Already have a motel room reserved. Hope to see/meet some other STAKKERS there.

A show I want to go to is the White Pine show north of the twin cities. http://whitepineshow.webs.com

Coming from Ohio it would only ad 50 miles to a trip to Rollag.
