Default Rumely Oil Pull 25-45 Compression

A Rumely buddie contacted me wondering if the compressio on his 25-45W is adequate. He has 60lbs on both cylinders. Does anyone know what the acceptable range is for this tractor or for that matter any of the other oilpulls. Thanks.

Hey Dave,

No mention of exactly how that was measured (bleed-off or dynamic) but I'd be surprised if that wasn't well within an acceptable range for a 4:1 compression ratio engine. Have never measured ours, but I'd expect ~40-60 psi on our 14-28.

Good Luck!

Steve, Thanks for the info. I am not sure if my buddie had used bleed off or dynamic either, i guess I can find that out. I do know that he had done a lot of engine work. He was probably thinking 60lbs was a little low. I will contact him this weekend with some more of these questions.

Was he testing the compression with the decompression relief on or off? There is a lever on the side of the valve chest that is used to decompress the engine.

Was this a wet test?

The compression test was done like this " I primed her up with oil, belted up to another tractor and got her spinning pretty good. That is when I found compression to be about 60lbs on both cylinders, compression relief off". I am satisified with the responses received;that 60lbs is about what should be expected. Still wondering if any of you rumely guys have actually done a similar type test. I plan to check my 20-30M later this spring . Thanks Folks!
