Smile Old Newbie from North Carolina

Hello Y'all, I subscribed to Smokstak Saturday (7/27/13) and saw this meet and greet forum. I am 64 and still working (own a small business and work on large industral reciprocating compressors). I was raised in northern Minnesota and was associated with the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion at Rollag for a number of years as a teenager. I still own a 1933 KE 1-1/2hp Stover engine that I showed there. Some of you older WMSTR folks probably knew my old iron mentor Bob Bilden who I hung out with for a number of years as a teen. My best friend Arvin Teige, also was a long time exhibitor of old engines and tractors. I have a 1952 8N Ford tractor restored that I show and use to pull parade floats, and the little KE Stover is hooked to a United burr mill which I use to grind cornmeal. I also have a Fairbanks-Morse 8hp Z which is couled to a homebuilt buzz saw rig which I also demonstrate at local shows. If you'll look on the other forum board you can see some pictures of the Z. I am trying to identify the style as it seems to be a uncommon or special use engine. If you care to take a shot at figuring out what I have, please post your thoughts. Glad to be a part of the old iron gang, looking forward to making new friends along the way. Hal Rosenquist - Pinnacle, NC (near Winston - Salem)

Hi Nick, I was in Mocksville a couple weeks ago, went to the PAPA show.
I hope to exhibit at the fall show at Piedmont Farmers Market this fall.

Hi Mike, I'll have to check that event out. I am learning about shows all the time that I didn't know about.

I was there Friday with 4 engines. If you can make it come on over to the show in Turnersburg on Aug 9th and 10th.

Welcome !
I'm relatively new here (and also new to engine collecting) myself -- I split my time between Charlotte and New Bern
