Default 2016 100+ Steam engines

Next year Rough & Tumble is featuring Steam. They are aiming for 100+ traction engines and other steam exhibits. I think they will make that goal. It should be quite a show.

BTW I exhibit at more then a few shows every summer and this one treats exhibitors the best.

Put it on your calendar. 8/17/2016 to 8/20/2016

Hi Frank,

Yes, for next year we are working on a goal of over 100 steam engines running at Rough and Tumble at Reunion August 17-20 2016. We are working on plans for the Steam Exhibition and the show should be very special.

Attached is a copy of the 2016 brochure for Rough and Tumble. We hope everyone can come out a enjoy the show!

Will all of the engines be under steam and operating?

Hi Beth,

That is our goal to have engines under steam and operating. We will need a lot of extra coal and wood to support all the engines during the 2016 Threshermen's Reunion.

Our Shay railroad engine will be running next year with its new boiler to be installed over the winter. We are also working on our very unique Coldwell steam lawn mower to have that running next year. It will be the only one left running in the world. We are inviting engineers to bring their unique engines in from around the country.

I have sat on the floor studying that lawn mower. It is fascinating. I look forward to seeing it run. If I remember right, on the other side of the wall from the lawn mower are some engine hoists and jacks that need to come out into the sun shine. Wonderful stuff tucked away

Hi Frank,

We have a variety of steam equipment in the front room of the Stationary Steam Engine Museum with the lawn mower. Here is a link where you can see more information regarding the project. The engine is currently in the shop.

Thanks for the video, That's great news.

The equipment I am thinking of is on the other side of the wall that the mower is next to. In other words. If you walk into the front room the mower was on your left. walk past the mower and 2 feet into the main room and turn 90 deg left. There are some nice jacks and floor hoists there.
Wait a min, I found pictures.

John J, is Rough and Tumble making arrangements for inspections for out of state engines? We may be interested in bringing our 1903 9HP Case. It will have a current Virginia inspection. Our boiler inspector is looking into whether he can perform a Maryland inspection for us, as I understand that is recognized by PA. There may be some other VA engines interested in coming too...
Thanks!

The square piston has been run on air so you are right, it should be hooked up. I am planning on moving and hooking up the 1850 beam engine that is in the front room. That is the oldest engine on the grounds and it should work.
