Default Ru -D6 dozer oil switch

Why does the Ru d6 dozer need an oil switch and why does this tractor have the 2 wires going to the alternator.I was wondering if it was used to energize the alternator? Can I just use a manual switch for that since it has no ignition switch.Someone else took it off and I am trying to get it figured out.
It has a delco remy alternator .

Most likely the oil pressure switch completes the circuit for the alternator. It is a fairly popular conversion for older diesel farm tractors.

Then when the engine is shut off the oil pressure drops opening the points and this opens the circuit so that the battery( s) do not run down when the engine is not running. Like I said popular on old farm diesel tractors that have no ignition switch or no need for one.

This diagram helped me re wire it since I was not the person who took it apart on the delco remy alternator.
