Littlebit of over spray at a few places, otherwise it is a good looking machine. I wish I had one like it. Roger Weinhold AKA Charlie 1925

It looks better in photos than in person, but it is a runner with new steering clutches. It needs some other work but Im happy with it.

Is it an IXB or an IXK engine? I see it has a distributor instead of a mag.

Good question, the guy I got it from didnt know. What do I need to look for to tell between those two engines?

Edit: This does have a water pump, so IXB?

Look on the left side of the block near the top. The Hercules model number and serial number of the engine should be stamped in a flat area near the top center of the block.

I believe it is some type of transplant and not an original Herc. It sits wrong and has a much larger starter than the original IXA-B. We need several more closeup pics of both sides of the engine and especially the connection to the transmission to ID the unit. As mentioned in another HG thread people have adapted all kinds of power units to these tractors. Ed B

You have any casting numbers for that block? How long is the block?

Block length is 22-1/4". Photos/numbers are all on the left side of the block.

Patrick Someone spent a lot of time putting a Herc. Power Unit into an HG chassis. It is one of the more complicated installs I've seen. The engine appears to be mounted higher than the imput into the Transmission. How did they make the connection between the two???? It is amazing what people have done to keep and old tractor going. It is a model UX4 Hercules Power Unit and dates much later than the tractor it is mounted in. Enjoy Ed B

Post #12 photo, you can see the guarded driveshaft at an angle. Did a quick internet search, couldnt find any info on the UX4.

Does anyone know where some rubber track pads can be had for this? Has anyone had luck with making their own, and from what?
