Default John Deere B oil level

This is a stupid question, but where do you check the oil level on a John Deere unstlyed B to make sure it is ok. There is the set screw that comes out of the crankcase below the flywheel. When you unsrew it, if oil comes out of the hole is it ok? or do you check it by the two plugs between the flywheel and the crankcase. Just want to make sure.

Check the oil by loosening that plug that looks like a set screw. If oil comes out you have enough. When these were in the field all day using low grade fuels you had to drain off the excess oil every day as the distillate or power fuel washed throught he cylinders and into the oil. Out of curiosity, what is the serial # of your B?
