Default 1899 otto auction

I was wondering if anyone from this board plans to be at the auction tomorrow. Hey what about you coolspring guys. I know your show's this weekend but its only a 3 hour drive. I couldn't make your show today my daughter conveniently woke up sick this morning. You have a great weekend for it.

See you at the auction ED

I've added the link below in the public service of "saving" the engine... -- Harry

Default 1899 OTTO( Saved for ALL to see)

Well the auction had quite a turnout . The winning bid came from a Gentleman from Rough and Tumble at Kinzer P.A ( They heard about it on the internet . The backup bidder was a man from Canada . THANKS Harry for letting this posting stand . Now all collectors can see this great engine and pump in P.A.

I knew you were going to ask me this . Its a long story why I dont have the final price (I was distracted by daughter, plus I was late for work) .I will say It went over 14500,00 and was hammered down 2 or 3 bids later . I think the auctioneer felt he was going to get more . Two years ago I saw him sell a smaller engine for 24000,00 .

Hi Ed,

Can you tell us in computer land what the otto went for and who bought it. A bunch of engine nuts at coolspring show want to know. Thanks Craig...

Craig the new owner is Paul Stoltzfoos at Leola Pa. He has the twin slide valve at Kinzer. It started at $5000 and Audry (my wife) took it up to $15000 . Paul only bid once I think , that was $15250 . Buyer to pay NY sales tax plus 5% buyer premium . had a bad year , second last bidder on about 6 different engines . Still it was great to see an original setup 100 years old. Brian & Audry

Hi Brian,

Hi buddy, Stiles says hi, and the crew from coolspring says thanks for the info. Sorry you didn't get the otto. See ya, Craig...

PS Dick Levreault's here and has your base for your 10 HP otto but sold it to Clark Toleman...HA HA HA

Craig, I stopped by the auction on the way home. These are a pair of the nicest original engines I have seen in years. Very impressive to see something in its original setting and in this condition. They still are out there !!! Wayne
