Default Big 1927 100hp Korting Engine

Hello, im Claudio from Uruguay, i just bought a big big 100hp Korting engine, is a great engine, mint condition, stored inside from new..100% complete. A superb project!!! But im little problem for dismount and transport to home, because the route is small and i cannot go with a big crane...i think i should to use a medium crane, so the questions is: Whats the aprox wheight of this beast???
thanks in advance

A photograph would help to determine the weight.

Congrats on your purchase Claudio! A picture would help indeed. What is the flywheel diameter?
Regards
Marcel

We have a 100 HP De La Vergne diesel engine that is similar to your engine, it weighs about 46,000 pounds. The frame and cylinder weighs about 20,000 pounds, crankshaft about 10,000 and the flywheel about 16,000. Good luck with the move.

So if you take it into pieces, perhaps around 10,000 pounds or less for each piece to move?
I want to see that engine someday Bill.

I think these figures are quite accurate. If that flywheel has a diameter of 2,5m and a width of 0,4m then the rim alone is nearly 1 m3 or 8000+ kgs. As said before, taking it to pieces is the only way! They got it in there over 90 years ago after all. Wish I was closer!

Marcel

1886 Deutz stranglehold on the basic patent of the internal combustion engine is reversed. A patent attorney for Geruber Korting finds a prior patent, laying out the exact cycles of the internal combustion engine. The French transportation engineer, Alphonse Beau de Rochas, had filed it on January 16, 1862.
