Default Leola Sale Pictures - Ottawa Log Saws

Here are some early pictures of the sale at Leola PA today.

Whenever your wife says " how many engines are you going to collect" show her these pictures.

This guy had three rows of engines about 70 feet long. He also had three rows about 100 feet long of other farming equipment plus a row of tractors about 100 feet long. About 250 pieces of equipment in the sale.

It was pouring rain and I didn't stay for the sale but I am sure several stackers will provide a list of the prices paid for most of the items.

Two Ottawa Log Saws at the Leola sale today.

The one with the Wisconsin engine is serial # 11308

The second one is serial no TE26972. The number was hand stamped even the first (2) was upside down. This set up not only had the log saw but also has the circular saw attachment.

It was pouring I did not stay for the sale. However, I am sure some stakers were there and will have pricing.

Sorry the sale bill did not list the owner. The auctioneer said it was one mans collection but he did not give the name. Possibly someone else that was at the sale will know.

About the above references to lost pictures.

I posted two separate messages and they were both on smokstaks. The next time I looked the second message was gone from smokstaks. When I looked for the second message it was gone from smokstaks. Then I tried to post a new message and could not attach the pictures because they were already posted in the first posting. Now I find that some how the second message and pictures ( Ottawa Saw) got combined into the first message. I don't know what happened but all I can say is Bill Gates is much smarter than I am.

However I bet he doesn't have as much fun as we do with our engines.

Darn. You guys back east and in the midwest get all the fun when it comes to auctions. You just don't see sights like this out here. Heck, I can't even brag about the weather right now.

Gary, according to a friend of ours, the owner was from the Scranton area don't know the name exactly but George said it sounded like "Kunkrick". Couldn't find a name spelled that way in PA.

The 5HP Ottawa sold for $1100 and the 6HP aircooled for $300. I didn't go to the sale because yesterday I started having the sniffles and I thought it was stupid to go. George said the rain stopped at noon. He said he was so cold he didn't even try to record prices. I saw he had a price of $6200 written next to the Olds and $6600 next to the small New Holland. Don't know if they are correct or not.

Hey Leonard: THANKS for attending the auction, getting cold and getting the prices for us that didn't attend. The one thing I thought I might like was a bit pricey at $8,500 . THANKS...

Was talking to the driver that was hauling the engines and stuff in on Friday He told me that the man is a cabinet maker in Md. and has a farm near Scranton Pa. He also said this is about 1/3 of the stuff he has and he could haul for weeks I'm starting to think that this may not be his good stuff . Brent in Lancaster

JD 3 hp (850) Don't seem too bad a price, of course that depends on running condition. And to think I let a complete none running 6hp Galloway on cart get away from me at an auction for $625 not long ago. What the heck was I thinking

Was this the sale that had the Galloway mill? If so, did anyone get a picture or hear of the sale price?

I should have at least made the guy pay more for it The heck of it is, it was one of those rare times that I had a few bucks on me

That explains that price.

Was there anything special about the IH Famous that it brought the kind of money it did.

i went over to check out the engines on Fri.They were just bringing them out for the sale.As they were being brought out 2 Amishmen were getting them running. Those 2 fellows looked like Elias Beiler and his son.I thought that maybe those engines were theirs.I know I had seen alot of them at their Feb sale. The 4hp Famous was a real nice original.$8500.00 was plenty for it.I am glad I decided to stay home on Sat.My pockets are still alittle light from Christmas.Rob
