Default Witte timing

I am unable to start my 6hp headless witte and believe the timing is off. I have the timing procedure but cannot find any marks on the flywheels. Is there another way I can check the timing? Thanks!

Just a real quick reference point to look at: with the crank throw at the twelve o'clock straight up position, the nose of the cam should also be at twelve o'clock.. or REAL close! ...At least that'll tell you if your in the ballpark with your valve timing gear mesh....That's my starting point when I set up an engine that has no marks.

Supposedly there are marks on the flywheel rim.
