Question Needle valve packing

What do you guys use to replace the felt type packing in a needle valve on a mixer?

I use Teflon/asbestos string where trying to keep things original. For engines that I actually use, I use a small o-ring around the screw, and a knurled thumb nut to tighten against the o-ring. This eliminates springs, leakage, etc.

Exclamation Re: Needle valve packing

If the screw has a packing nut, either the teflon or some graphite impregnated packing material works well. The graphited packing is available from a good plumbing supply house.

If it's just to seal a screw thread, I'd use some cotton twine. With the small amount of wear, it will hold up fine and won't be affected by the fuel.

Take care - Elden
