Photo Stump sale (results) $60,000 engine!

For those who are interested the 12 hp Columbus engine brought $60,000. All I can say is Wow. Nice original portable.Might be a new record for a farm type engine. I didn't get all of the prices but most of the other engines went fair to a little on the low side.Maybe someone will post the full list. Rob

THANKS for the price listing. I was going to the sale, but decided to work some O.T. instead. Good thing I did or I'd never be able to retire .

I take it that the Columbus is a rare engine. Does anyone have a picture of it?

I could probably add up all of the engine selling prices of all the auctions I've gone to in the last 4 years and not come close to $60,000!

The Olds went for $15,000. The 3hp headless Witte followed me home. Interesting sale all in all. Here's a picture of the Columbus.

So where can this Nebraska boy see that expensive engine? Or will they charge me admission to recoup some of their startup cost? I'll volunteer to pay a buck to look at a $60,000 engine! (but at current gas prices, I won't drive very far :-)

Another Nebraska guy would like to see it. Did it go to someone from Columbus Nebraska? Could it have been possibly made it Columbus Nebraska?? The museum in Norfolk Nebraska purchased a Square-Turn tractor, several years ago, because it was made in Norfolk Nebraska. ???

The engine was built in Columbus, OH. All I can say is, if you're willing to drive that far to an auction for an engine, you probably won't drag an empty trailer home. Besides, if I won the lottery ya'll would be talking about what an idiot I am for spending that much money on an engine! Mike

Hate to tell ya this but I spoke with a fellow and his wife that drove from CALIFORNIA to take home that Columbus - now thats wanting an eingne pretty badly!

I had hoped to take home the Olds but there were a little deeper pockets than mine there so....my trailer went home empty
